Since 2014 I have been working in the field of Geomicrobiology, Molecular Ecology, Electromicrobiology, Deep Sea, Coastal and Freshwater Ecology, Biogas facilities,....

It started as a hobby that I created fun cakes for friends. And then I also created cakes for my scientific works. Here you can see a small selection of cakes.

During Ocean Science in San Diago, I got in touch with the Frontiers team. Afterwards, I wrote my first two "Young Mind" articles on sterilization of bacteria and the distribution of sediment bacteria. Feel free to check them out.

On a research cruise you are very close to the sea and you feel like presenting this beauty to others. Therefore, I took as many photos as possible and I was promoting our research topics. It was a perfect idea to combine art and science!

Since 2014, I have helped and co-organized outreach events such as the Bremen Mile or Open House at the University of Tübingen, Bremen and Aarhus as well as at the AWI and MPI Bremen. I have also given guided tours upon request.

In Aarhus in 2021 I started smithing small bacteria in silver in the studio of Guldsmed Henrik Saugbjerg.

Since 2018, I have visited more than 5 different school classes (in Bremen and Schleswig) including career counseling and lab experiments. I also offered high school student internships as well as student mentoring....

Since 2019 I am joining classes to learn how to use social media channels and write short stories. Have a look at my Twitter Tweets :)

Having the skills from my mum and being raised with Art, I love to paint! When I am travelling or in the evenings I am outside drawing plants or marine organisms :)

Since a few month, I recieve interview & discussion requests to talk about deep sea mining. Here an example with DTU student (Denmark, April `23)

Again, the starting point was the experience on the vessel of challenging myself with different media, writing a blog with colleagues, and having my first interviews (see Outreach)

During the research cruise in the Pacific Ocean I was privileged to participate in small media contributions. See yourself!

During my the last few years I was organizing and managing field campaigns to freshwater lakes and coastal areas. This was my favourite job so far!

This was a funny idea while I was working on my doctoral thesis for nights and was confronted with the topic. So I started painting little sketches to relax and learned how to digitize them through a friend. Then I gave away the pictures printed on mugs :) 

My friend Eli had asked me if I could make a short film about my work for her students in the US (See Venir "my neighbor is a scientist").

While on the Research Vessel SONNE, I worked with a former classmate to write a newspaper article on deep sea mining and life as a Marine Scientist. This was followed by articles on "Life as a Scientist," "Merit of a Scientist."....

I have been creating artwork for art competitions since 2020. So far I have not received any award, but feel free to look around the gallery (See Art & Illustration)

Since 2019 I am offering open house lectures at the Alfred Wegener Institute. It is possible to book my lectures about deep sea ecology and deep sea mining.

Since 2012 I've been looking for special moments and motifs that I can photograph with my Canon...

Since 2019, I am volunteering in the BeOk Project (Berugsorientierung ohne Klischees, Bremen) as a role model. The goal is to talk about the advantages and disadvantages being a researcher, what kind of mind- and skill set you need...
